Helpful Responses for Mother's Day Emails

AMBASSADOR
LETTER

We know how hard it is to receive email after email telling you to ‘Spoil mum this Mother’s Day’, or to ‘Buy her the perfect Mother’s Day gift’.

As a way to empower you during a time when we feel helpless, and when our emotional state can be at the peril of Mother’s Day promotions, we have carefully crafted a MDA Ambassador reply e-mail response that you can copy, paste (fill in the blanks) and send back to any Mother’s Day emails you receive.

Our response invites companies and businesses to join us in raising awareness for the 3.7 million Aussie women and girls who sadly don’t have their mum to celebrate with on Mother’s Day.

So, how does it work?

If you receive a Mother’s Day promo via email or social media inbox, we encourage you to reply with our letter below.

If you choose to act as an Ambassador for MDA, we ask that you copy and paste our letter, and share in its entirety without making any changes (aside from filling in the blanks.

We entrust you to represent MDA in a genuine and respectful way and make sure you let us know of any replies you receive!

Dear [Insert company name],

Thank you for your email.

My name is [insert name] and I’m writing as an Ambassador for Motherless Daughters Australia (MDA) and as an advocate for all women, girls and children whose Mums have died. My mum died when I was [insert your age] and she was [insert your mum’s age]

MDA is a not for profit organisation that represents ,informs, supports and connects women, girls and children whose mums have died. They help us navigate the everyday, including life’s key milestones without the support of our mum.

Mother’s Day is a beautiful day celebrated by many, but for approx. 3.7 million Australian females who’ve lost their mum, it looks a little different and is celebrated in our own individual and unique way. Whilst Mother’s Day is a special day to celebrate and honour amazing women, I am acutely aware of all those, like me, who are living without their mum. As an MDA Ambassador, I would love your help in reaching these women and girls this Mother's Day so that they too, can get the comforting supportI’ve been able to receive through MDA. It might just make them feel less isolated and alone at this challenging time.

So, how can you help? I’d love it if you could:
- Share information about MDA on your social media accounts. Suggested text is below.
- Include a link/info about MDA in your upcoming email marketing campaigns for Mother’s Day.

Text suggestion to accompany the above can include:
We want to acknowledge that Mother’s Day can be a difficult time for many. If you are a motherless daughter and find this to be a challenging time, you can head to Motherless Daughters Australia for support and to connect with a community of over 5000 women who truly understand the impact of mother loss.

I hope you can assist with raising some much needed awareness. If you would like to know more, or if you’d like to view MDA’s awareness document please visit www.motherlessdaughters.com.au or please email the organisation via info@motherlessdaughters.com.au

Kind regards, [insert name]
